For his meritorious service in combat operations, he is a recipient of three Bronze Stars.

Alexandra Avera is a highly accomplished chemical engineer and researcher with a deep passion for addressing implicit medical bias through innovative technology. Her work is specialized in engineering glioblastoma organoids, a significant step toward developing personalized medicine and solving the deep-rooted mystery of glioblastoma. She has extensive industrial experience from her co-op at Southern Nuclear, where she worked on projects to improve plant efficiency. Additionally, she has years of experience as a mentor, founding programs like the Professional Integration Program (PIP) for individuals with disabilities and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds in STEM.
